Last week we had some of our besties fly in for a long weekend and we couldn’t have been more excited. Joe didn't get to come to Florida with Grey and I in Novemeber so he hasn’t seen our friends since we moved in July, and after a few cold months of us not getting out of the basement or house too much, it was needed! Sara and Drew are one of our closest couple friends (I said ONE OF, so to our other couple friends cursing me out in their heads right now, don't rule yourself out) so it wasn't weird at all with them coming to stay at the in-laws with us. They have met Joe's parents many times and everyone gets along great.
They flew in on Wednesday to LaGuardia so Grey and I woke up super early and made our way ALL the way to the city. It was my first time driving that far since moving here and getting on all these different highways scares me, but we made it thanks to the ole trusty GPS and a little Yo Gabba on the Ipad for Grey. After picking them up I was so happy to see familiar faces that I didn't even care if I would've had to drive 6 hours to go get them! After getting settled in I took them to John Harvard's for lunch which is a local pub/brewery. After a few pumpkin beers, (yes, I'm still drinking pumpkin anything for as long as people will sell it to me!) we did some grocery shopping and then came home and made a nice welcome dinner for them.

Not gonna lie, it's a little hard to show guests around when you have a kid as young as Greyson. Oh Thursday Drew suggested a movie, but no way in hell my wild kid would sit through a movie at this age, or ever?? I thought about a winery but its cold so Greyson wouldn't be able to run wild in the open grass. So instead, I took them out to eat, again. Haha. We went to this place I had only been to for drinks but have been dying to try, called That Meetball Place. They serve, you guessed it. MEATBALLS! Any kind you could think of. Its such a cool concept. You can have your meatballs on a roll, a slider, over spaghetti, or even on top of a salad. I had a buffalo chicken meatball which was DELICIOUS and a balls of fire meatball which was good too! We all loved our food and local brewed beers as well. After that we did a little bit of shopping for our ski trip and then we went home and enjoyed New York style pizza (we had to treat them to world's best pizza!) and more drinks of course! Can you tell that this long weekend with them consisted of LOTS of eating and drinking???
Friday we left for Pennsylvania, while Greyson stayed home with his Grandma and Grandpa. I was a little nervous since he has never been away from the both of us for longer than a day, but he did great! So great that I just may be planning our next mini getaway as I type!
Once we got to our condo in the Pocono's we got ready and headed out to Main St for dinner and drinks. We went to a place called Yard Of Ale and both the food and drinks were on point. So good that I finished my whole plate! After dinner we ran (literally ran, it was 4 DEGREES out!!!!!) to the car and headed back to the condo to play cards and have drinks like the old days.
I was really paying for acting like it was the old days with an 8am wake up call and a little hangover :) but we got up, Drew made breakfast and they were on their way to skiing. I decided to hang at the condo since I knew skiing and freezing my ass off wouldn't be my thing. After a few hours of a terrible time for Sara, she joined me and we went back to Yard Of Ale for more eating and drinking while the boys finished skiing. After a long day, everyone was tired and sore so we ordered pizza and went to bed pretty early.
Thankfully Sunday we left early to get home since we ended up getting stuck in over 3 hours of pretty much stopped traffic!! The roads were so icy and we passed about 25 accidents. I can't stop thinking about all the people involved and hoping they are okay.
Sunday the guys watched football all night while we hung with Greyson and continued to eat and drink. How were we STILL drinking or even eating for that matter??
Monday I sadly took them back to the airport and am already counting down the days until we see them again in March. Greyson became so comfortable with them and couldn't stop dancing with Drew and snuggling up to him right before they left. I really didn't want to see them go. :( It was such a nice weekend being back with close friends. It sure does make us miss home, but we know everything we are working towards here will pay off for the life we see our little for family of three. <3
